We run recreational classes on Wednesdays and Thursdays for children aged 4 to 14 in Shepshed. Recreational cheerleaders learn all of the elements of cheerleading (stunts, pyramids, tumbling, dance and jumps) and work towards our Wildfire Cheer Award certificates. During the latter part of the year, we will focus on learning a class routine to perform at our annual Summer Showcase in early July 2023.
Classes are suitable for beginners as well as children who have been attending for a while, we do try to work in groups within the class based on age and ability where possible.
We accept new members throughout the year, provided there are spaces. This season we are running the following classes:
Tinies Recreational Class
This class is suitable for children in Reception and Year 1. It’s a 45 minute class, in which children learn the very basics of cheerleading and tumbling and there is a big focus on fun!
Time: Wednesdays 4:30-5:15pm
Location: Sports Hall B, Iveshead School, Shepshed
Age Range: 4 to 6 years old (must have started school)
Cost: £14 per month
Minis Recreational Class
This class is suitable for children in Years 2 to 4. It’s a 1hr class, in which children learn all the elements of cheerleading and can practice skills at whatever level they are working at.
Time: Wednesdays 5:15-6:15pm
Location: Sports Hall B, Iveshead School, Shepshed
Age Range: 6 to 9 years old (school year 2 minimum)
Cost: £18 per month
Youth/Junior Recreational Class
This class is suitable for children in Years 5 to 9. This class is 1hr and 15 mins and we are able to work on some more advanced level stunts and tumbling, but the class is still suitable for beginners.
Time: Thursdays 6:45-8pm.
Location: Sports Hall B, Iveshead School, Shepshed
Age Range: 9 to 14 years old (school year 5 minimum – or year 4s by invite only)
Cost: £22 per month
What to Wear/Bring
- Clothes appropriate for sport (T-shirt and shorts or leggings are fine).
- CLEAN indoor trainers with a solid sole. We allow barefeet in the Tinies class only.
- Long hair must be tied up and all jewellery/piercings must be taken out or taped over.
- Bring a drink with you.
